Form with Function

Just because something looks good it doesn’t mean it’s useful. And just because something is useful doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful. Good designers always work to keep the form, function and the aesthetic quality of a design in balance throughout the life of a project.

Too often the current popular design trend is used to hide areas of an interface that simply don’t have an elegant solution appropriate to the problem in hand. It is too easy to get caught in the trap of focusing on ‘making it pretty’ without giving consideration to the actual purpose of the design.

A designer should understand that even the most utilitarian product can benefit from subtle, refined aesthetic treatments to turn what is dull and boring, into something enjoyable and engaging.

The most elegant solution displays both restraint and precision — both useful and beautiful.

At ZeroDotNine it is our ethos that you can have beauty with brains; it is this combination that drives us to create functional and beautiful designs for print and web, to communicate your message with finesse and efficiency.
